From download to peace of mind in an afternoon
Setting up Eyrie is a five-step journey you do with your family, not to them. Here's exactly what happens — and where consent and transparency fit in.
Create your family
Download Eyrie and set up your family space. You're the organiser: you decide who's in the family and what each person can see.
Add a child
Add each child in your care. A child can't legally consent to location sharing, so you give that consent as their parent or guardian — and you tell them about it. Eyrie is designed for families to use together, in the open.
Pair their phone
Install Eyrie on the child's phone and connect it to your family. This is where the transparency contract comes in.
Set places & routines
Save home, school and the places that matter, then describe a normal day. Eyrie learns the shape of the week.
Get the alerts that matter
From then on, Eyrie stays quiet — until an arrival, a missed routine or a safety flag means it's worth your attention.
The transparency contract
When you pair a child's phone, Eyrie shows a plain-language summary of what the family can and cannot see about them. It's the heart of how Eyrie works.
- Written for the child to understand, not buried in legalese.
- Reviewable any time from the child's own phone.
- Honest about limits — what Eyrie shares, and what it never touches.
- No hidden mode. Concealing the app is against our Acceptable Use Policy.
What a normal week feels like
Most days, you'll barely open Eyrie — and that's the point. It works in the background and only reaches for your attention when it earns it.
- Morning: "Maya arrived at school, on time."
- Afternoon: a tap of "I'm here" from training.
- Evening: a gentle nudge if a phone's battery is low before pickup.
- Weekly: a digest on higher plans, so nothing's a surprise.
Honest about what a phone can and can't do
Eyrie relies on your phone's location services. They're usually accurate to a few metres outdoors, but GPS can drift indoors, and a phone that's flat, off, or out of signal can't report at all.
Treat Eyrie as a helpful aid — never the only way you know someone is safe. In an emergency, contact the emergency services where you are.
